I Lost My Precious Mother On Mother's Day: Overwhelmed With Grief & Sorrow (martyrs)

posted by PureWord(R), 12.27.2016

Dearest Rachel

I'm truly sorry that you lost your beloved mother. You both seem like precious people.

I would like to make an observance from your post. I heard many things about how you both were faithful and devout Christians and the many things that you felt that you did to prove that. What I didn't hear was one word about how wonderful Jesus is. It's as though you felt like you deserved the promises of God because of how good of a Christian you've been. The promises of God being fulfilled have nothing to do with ones works but all to do with the works of Jesus and belief in His works. Notice that throughout the new testament the healings and miracles that Jesus performed were never based on one's works or on how well the person kept the commandments but were all based on belief on Him. "According to your faith" Jesus would say, "be it done unto you." He could do no mighty works in His own home town because of their "unbelief".

Galatians tells us that one is actually cursed if they try to get right with God because of their works but blessed is the one who's relationship with God is based on faith in Jesus finished work and not their own works. We can only approach God through the works of Jesus and not by our own works. After all, our own works are but filthy rags in the sight of God. I encourage you to study the book of Galatians.

Remember when the old testament priests would present the sacrificial lamb as a sin offering? The requirement was that the lamb had to be "without spot or blemish". The priest did not look at the perfection of the sinner who brought the lamb as the sacrifice, but looked only at the perfection of the lamb. What a typology of our Jesus. God doesn't look at the imperfection of the sinner as acceptance but He only looks at the perfect sacrifice of His Son Jesus.
