Angela: My thinking is not with Giving at all. It's anti-Tithing (general)

posted by bibleprobe(R) Homepage, Mass., 08.18.2015

Of course Christians have it seared into their hearts to gladly give to the needy, the poor, and other good causes. I think Christians should think 'soberly' about giving - and to whom, however. It actually aggravates me when some denominations 'brain-wash' their flock into thinking they MUST give a 10% 'tithe' to that particular church. When in fact, their may be better ways of helping the Lord by giving to other causes - sometimes one-on-one with no 50% 'administrative costs' (like homeless, those in immediate need, etc.).

When was the last time your Catholic Priest, Protestant Minister, or Jewish Rabbi got up on Sunday to thank so-in-so who recently passed away -- for their thoughtful gift of deeding their $500,000 (or more) home or property to that Church or Synagogue? You never hear about those things! Church goers rarely ever get to see the church's books. The same things go on with Christian Science, Jehovah Witness, Mormon, and Scientology, etc. They also go on at pagan Muslim mosques and pagan Hindu, Buddhist, etc. - places of worship.

I am a real estate appraiser and have to search Registry of Deed records all the time. I often see the above scenario. Sometimes I think I should publish those transfers (real estate gifts from members of their congregation who have passed over) in the local newspapers.

I'm not against giving enough on Sunday to help keeping the church's doors open, and paying enough so the poor minister can pay his rent, feed and educate his children. Don't get me wrong. These Priests and Ministers are working hard for Christ - except for the relatively few fakers. Ironically, even the money grubbing fakers are spreading the Word. Like Hitler did, I can imagine them practicing their 'sermons' in front of a mirror - showmanship.

I am just saying 'give wisely'! If the pastor has 2 homes (one for just vacation), super expensive cars, boats, and even airplanes -- then a 'red flag' should go up. How many homeless or others in immediate need could have been well taken care of with that sort of 'extra' money?
