Judges who stomped on the U. S. Constitution which gave most rights to the states have brought us this absurd homosexual marriage dilemma. The Congress needs to rail in these UNELECTED Judges and make them accountable to the U.S. Constitution. /s/ Steve @ http://prorege-forum.com
Margaret Marshall, then the chief justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, ignited a firestorm of civic rage when she alone ruled same-sex marriages were allowable in this commonwealth, making Massachusetts the first state in the nation to sanction such relationships.
Fitzgerald: Ducking gay marriage is cowardice
There are certain callings — clergymen, office-holders, even columnists — which ought to come with the inherent understanding that if everyone likes you, you’re not doing your job.
Following the crowd? Turning a deaf ear? Playing it safe?
No. Those are not the needed attributes for holding a position in the public eye.
If you have a voice in public affairs, neutrality is not an option, especially when emotions are aroused. When Harry Truman referred to “the heat,” he was talking about a willingness and ability to withstand resistance to your positions, even if it means incurring resentment.
It all comes with the territory, and nowhere is that truer than in our judiciary, the ultimate arbitrator of passionate differences.
But we don’t want judges to make our laws; we entrust only the interpreting of our laws to them.
