I should have simplified (revelation)

posted by fezik82(R), Ohio, 10.03.2014

I'm not sure if I'm being overly paranoid, but I really feel like if I were a Protestant and described my feelings on belief and how it leads to righteous acts, I feel that more people would agree with me. I think that my being Catholic is a disadvantage in some of my conversations because when I go on about faith filled deeds, as a Catholic, it starts unleashing the preconceived notion in the ones who are against the Catholic Church that the Church will not let go of the law. That's not what deeds are... deeds are what we do when we listen to Christ and follow His commandments. In John 15:10, He says that that's the only way to stay in His love, by obeying Him. I'm thinking about some of the posts that you've made and I'm starting to become convinced that you don't realize how strongly you believe in works. For instance, on September 16th, you wrote an article called, "Accepting but willing to change". In there, you explain how we must conform our actions and attitude to Christ's... that we must "be ready to change", that this is what God's Spirit moves us to do! That's the core of the unwritten law! That's following the law that God inscribed into your heart! You preach it and I know that you believe it.

The insert that you shared from your book on the seed and the word... that was phenomenal. God's Spirit moved you when you researched that, you knew that there was something there, that's faith. Your faith is a verb, not a noun... you believe and it encourages you to not only spend your time researching God's Word when you could be playing golf, but best of all... it encouraged you to preach God's Word, keeping just one of His New Testament "commandments" (1 John 5:3, cf. Matthew 28:19). Not the written commandments in the law, but the one that He inscribed into your heart when He entrusted His Spirit to you. You allowed your faith to move you into action... that's a deed.

On August 23, in "Humble Before God", you wrote:

Submit your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Pray. Dedicate your life to His Kingdom. Remember that everything belongs to Him and that you are His servant.

I believe that I understand you correctly when I assume that you mean that we must be willing to be submissive to God.. to allow Him to rule over us, to guide and discipline us? We are not just sitting here and waiting for our reward, if that were the case, why is He waiting? He knows what He is doing:

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Do you see that? He is trying so hard to lead everyone to Him, as a shepherd gathers His sheep... because He wants them to turn around and come to Him. That sacrifice was made 2,000 years ago... but He can still apply it today. If it were meant to cover all sins, He wouldn't be holding off for anyone to come to repentance. Death hasn't been abolished yet, His blood is still cleansing. You know that, 12 times you wrote about how important is to make the effort to "conform" to God on this site! I mean this in the kindest of ways... you believe that faith without deeds is dead, whether you realize it or not.

I asked The Lord how much He loved me

He stretched out His arms and said, "this much"

Then He died for me
