Just to clarify my reasoning for my last response (revelation)

posted by fezik82(R), Ohio, 09.18.2014

You shared something important to you and I appreciate that. But for selfish reasons, I need to clarify why I felt the need to say anything in the first place... because I feel so judgmental right now! In the original article, I couldn't entirely place my finger on what made me react the way that I did to it... they were only smaller things. For example, in a conversation that I had awhile back on the eternal generation of the Son, my point was that He must be God because dogs beget puppies, humans beget humans, God must only logically beget God... and I stand by that argument still. But he said:

"Everything produces after its kind. Dogs give birth to puppies, cats give birth to kittens and tigers give birth to tiger cubs. In the same manner, when you are born again, you are born of God. You are a child of the Most High God. He is your Father and He doesn’t see you in the flesh. He sees you in the Spirit."

On one hand, I can only agree... we are born of the Spirit and I will never deny that. On the other hand, only Christ is begotten of God (which makes Him, "true God from true God"), whereas we only have the hope that, "we might receive adoption to sonship" (Gal 4:5). I could have misunderstood him there, I just felt like he may have felt more as though he is (by order of birth of the Spirit)... more "God" and less "godly". Maybe that thought that I had there ruined the paragraph about not being predisposed to get a genetical cancer because God doesn't have cancer... I maybe just don't understand his reasoning there? And maybe I took the portion that says, "because your Daddy God is a winner, you are one too" wrong... but I originally felt that it might as well say, "because God is Almighty, so are you", I may have been too harsh?

I see that he's trying to make God more approachable, but I disagree with the way that he's doing it because I felt that he either viewed God more as a human, or he maybe exalted humans to Godship... I just couldn't figure out which! But I really was trying to see if I was being too harsh b/c I don't want to offend you, so I figured that I would find out what else he says. He had a page on his beliefs, and I agree 100% with every belief listed there... then I went to a page entitled, "The Power of the Holy Communion" and as could be expected, he believed the Eucharist to be symbolic, but then he said:

"Today, when we partake of the bread, we are declaring that Jesus’ health and divine life flows in our mortal bodies. And when we partake of the cup, we are declaring that we are forgiven and have been made righteous. Jesus’ blood gives us right standing before God, and we can go boldly into God’s presence (Hebrews 4:16). When we pray, we can be sure that God hears us!"

I don't feel that any living human has already "been made righteous", but the harder part for me was that I just felt that having divinity flowing through us is a lot to chew when you're trying to view the Lord's Supper as symbolic. If it is not Christ Himself that enters you, as in a common union... or communion... that you have with Him after receiving the bread, then claiming to have "divine life [flowing] in our mortal bodies" goes back to my original opinion... that he may believe that being born of the Spirit makes him deity. I assume you can agree here, what he said is the exact opposite of the point that you're trying to make in your book! I didn't want to respond to tear at this man whose teachings you value, I just wanted to explain my stance in my original response a little better! I'm sorry!

I asked The Lord how much He loved me

He stretched out His arms and said, "this much"

Then He died for me
