Bunkster: Can't remember - if about William Tyndale I'm 10 yrs ahead (general)

Bunkster:

Nice that you are still alive and doing well...It has been a long while. Still out there running to keep fit?

If I remember right someone posted something then about the importance of the Holy Eucharist. You know - Jesus told us to do that (bread & wine) in remembrance of Him. I do place most importance on things such as this -- that Jesus told us to do. That's not just a Catholic thing. That is also a Non-denominational thing - adhering to the rules the Lord made. Gaff off, ignore, or treat the bread & wine (body & blood of Christ) lightly - then you are not following the Lord's direction.

The Apostle Paul warns us about the importance of not taking the Eucharist lightly here:

1 Corinthians 11:23-30 (KJV)
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat : this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Clue me in please. If it was about 'God's Outlaw', William Tyndale or even Wycliffe (See DVD "The Morning Star" about Wycliffe) - then you didn't pay attention. 10 years ago I recommended the movies 'God's Outlaw' about William Tyndale and also 'The Morning Star' about Wycliffe who a bad pope had his bones burned and tossed into a river. See 'God's Outlaw' in the movie recommendations that have been here for 10 yrs: http://www.bibleprobe.com/G-I.htm

Based on a true story, God's Outlaw is about international politics, church intrigue, cold-blooded betrayal, and false justice ending in a criminal's death. But it's also about victorious faith and spiritual triumph over some of the greatest political and religious forces known in the 16th century.

A simple God-seeking man, William Tyndale somehow became one of the most wanted men in England and all of Europe. Pursued by King Henry VIII, Lord Chancellor Sir Thomas More, and the Pope's personal legate Cardinal Wolsey, he darted across Europe to avoid capture--always pushing to complete the task that obsessed him.

The task was translating the Bible into English and publishing it for his fellow countrymen--Englishmen who lived in a country where the Bible and even prayers in English were outlawed by a harsh and rigid religious establishment. Today he is renowned as "the father of the English Bible," and is recognized as one of the major leaders of the English Reformation. But the tale of how he lived and died as "God's outlaw" is a compelling "rest-of-the-story," and is especially a moving encouragement for modern people of faith.

Wycliffe's (See DVD "The Morning Star" about Wycliffe) hand-copied Bibles were burnt by the authorities and so, 150 years later, William Tyndale set out to translate the scriptures into the common tongue - this time, from the original Greek and Hebrew. But this was illegal and he fled to Europe pursued by agents of Henry VIII. Nevertheless, his translation was mass-produced on the newly invented printing presses and smuggled into England. Eventually, betrayed by a friend, he was arrested, tried and executed. His eloquent translation was a priceless gift to all English speaking peoples and a fitting memorial to his courage and genius.

Released in 2004. Full screen. 93 min. Scenery is great. But film quality is not so great. Available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Korean, with or without English subtitles. See at Amazon.com: here
