LIFE CHANGES: CINNAMON IS A SIMPLE CURE FOR DIABETES I BELIEVE. It effectively blocks glucose/sugar. Cinnamon also lowers the bad LDL cholesterol. Cinnamon is known as an 'insulin mimic'. It's believed that Type-A Polymers in Cinnamon are what works its wonders. It mimics the action of insulin in our bodies, which lets cinnamon boast sugar/glucose metabolism - this lowering the sugar in our blood. In a vitro study Type-A Polymers pushed glucose metabolism to a whopping 2000%.
But don't sprinkle that fake cinnamon on your toast or mini 110 calorie wheat or cinnamon bagels. The research proving cinnamon is a cure for diabetes was done with only 1 type of cinnamon. They used real cinnamon from Ceylon technically named 'Cinnamomum zeylanicum'. Another byproduct of frequent cinnamon use is it may lower your chance of cancer also. Cancer thrives on 2 things (1) Sugar, and (2) LACK of oxygen.
The typical store bought cinnamon is 'Cinnamomum cassia', which has high levels of coumarin that are bad for your liver. It usually also has useless filler - even sawdust.
Scientifically speaking, there is only one true cinnamon, which is most commonly called "Ceylon cinnamon," and comes from the plant Cinnamomum zeylanicum. An alternative scientific name for Ceylon cinnamon is Cinnamomum verum, which simply translates as "true cinnamon."
