I was reading Zechariah chapter 3 along with my Mom and we found that the Douay Rheims refers to the high priest as "Jesus" while other versions refer to the high priest as "Joshua". What I was actually looking for would have been great had they all said, "Jesus". When I went to bible.cc, I typed in "high priest Joshua" and every verse that possibly referred to him as the high priest read like, "to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest" like it was Jehozadak who was the high priest. I know that there is another Joshua, son of Nun who was referred to as "chief priest". So I have a few questions here... is chief priest the same thing as high priest? Is there a cluster of verses where it is clear that Joshua is a high priest? Another question (I don't do language changes very well) is this... I know that Yeshua is Jesus, but I believe that it is Hebrew for "Joshua"... is that right? Is it possible to find out if what was written on the scroll was, "Yeshua"? I would assume that if it were that easy, there wouldn't be so many differences, but I figured I'd ask!

Yeshua is a derivitive of the name Joshua...

Anything starts with alphabet J is a lie because 500 years ago, there is no alphabet J for English alphabet. Until today, Hebrew and Greek do not have J.

By the way, can you find Christ mass day in your scriptures? He was never born on Christ mass day. This Christ mass day was started by Roman Catholic.

I believe that the translation comes from "Yeshua", so you may be right. Jesus Christ is our translation. We do have a "J".
Yes, Yule. Actually, I think that it was pure genius to take a pagan holiday and turn all of the focus to Christ. They decided to take the date of Dec. 25, rather than June (the date The Church believes to be Christ's birthday), to draw the worshipers of Yule towards God. Apparently it worked beautifully... there are no Yule worship festivities! Oooh, and we got a lovely tree out of it as well. If you must insist that Satan planted everything, does in honestly make sense to you that it would be the celebration of God? The shepherds were there to honor Christ on the day of His birth. Job's family regularly celebrated birthdays. Christ celebrated Hannuka. We celebrate the birth of our Savior. How do you know that it was not Satan who planted all of the apologetics books that the Church bashers apparently can not live without?

Please elaborate on your "beast" thought? You may be confused about Constantine. He sinned greatly... but then converted, much like Paul who wrote nearly 1/2 of the NT. Perhaps it would do you some good to learn the difference between the Roman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire as well.

fezik82 - thanks for that post you made above in defense of CHRISTmas. And also for defending Constantine who among other things we can thank for stopping the Roman martyring of Christians by the thousands.

I believe the "beast" that Timotiyos is referring to, will most certainly emerge from Islam. And I have not yet ruled Obama out as a candidate for the "beast". However, I'm somewhat confident our "check & balance" system would not allow him to do what the "beast" will do.

Christianity and Islam are necessarily forever diametrically opposed to one another, just as evil and good are. Oral confession of the deity of Jesus Christ is prerequisite to becoming a Christian (Romans 10:9-10). To a Muslim, this is blasphemy. To a Christian it is blasphemy to not attribute divinity to Jesus the Christ. The New Testament could not be clearer on this subject.

The heart, core and soul of Christianity is allegiance to Jesus Christ as God, Lord, and Savior! Were Jesus Christ who the Muslim Qur'an makes him out to be (a prophet below the murdering, thieving Muhammad -who himself made no prophecies and admitted twice in the Qur'an he could do no miracles to show any connection with divinity), then Christianity would be blasphemous and baseless.

I'm not faulting "Timotiyos" mind you. He/she was not really "bashing"; but was just pointing out some well known things.

Just a plea to all. I'm not up for having to listen to another annual round of "CHRISTmas bashing" this year. Or Easter-bashing either. I wish people would just give that a rest and let us enjoy a "High" Christian Holy day in peace. These actual dates aren't at all important. It is the thought of Jesus and what His birth & resurrection means to us that counts.

If anyone needs "bashing" it is the kindly old Santa Claus who usurped CHISTmas.

I think we should start an internet thing to get as many people as we can to begin spelling Christmas as CHRISTmas.

As to your research on the pagan "Yule" -- you were on to something. Did you know that wherever in the world (outside pagan Islamic countries where Satan remains in firm control) there was a pagan shrine, there now exists atop or beside it a Christian, shrine or church dedicated to Mary and/or Mary and the Lord Jesus. It does seem that Mary has some sort of "commission" to smite the head of the snake... Just like we were taught via the Garden of Eden story...
