The Deuterocanonical and the Jews (bibles-scripture) |
I am having another issue with a JW about Catholics "adding the books". I know that The Septuagint was written between 300-100 BC by Jewish Scholars and they included the seven books that the Witnesses are accusing Catholics of "adding". I know that the Jews went back to the Hebrew text which didn't include the seven books because there weren't many Greek speaking Jews, but does anybody know when they stopped using the seven books? --- |

Does anybody know of a book or a great site that they are sure to have reliable time-lines for the history of the Bible? A history of all translations would make a great book... does it exist? I am finding many answers to every question that I have and there must be accurate records of dates somewhere! --- |

Why don't you ask them why they subtracted seven books from the bible? The original 1611 King James translation of the bible included the seven deutero-cannonical books. It wasn't until the 1800's that they were removed. Like I said before, it comes down to authority -- who has the authority to determine what books are to be included in the bible? |
